Environmental Stewardship

Environmental management and the protection of the environment are among the highest corporate priorities at all stages of our operations. Through and established Environmental Management System; high standards of environmental monitoring and sampling; pro-active risk management; and the prevention or mitigation the impacts of environmental incidents we always strive to minimize our environmental impact. We work closely with the applicable government agencies, stakeholders and indigenous peoples whose traditional territory we operate on to ensure that our activities meet or exceed legal requirements and societal expectations. North American Palladium is committed to maintaining the highest level of integrity in its environmental responsibilities and resource development.

Health & Safety

North American Palladium’s safety culture is one in which zero harm is our mandate and we are committed to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and others on our mine site or exploration properties. We as a collective team have safety as a core value and understand that safe production is our core responsibility. Employees at all levels of the organization take responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of their co-workers through the Internal Responsibility System. Individual awareness, responsibility and action in identifying and mitigating as much risk as possible within our operations is key to keeping everyone safe.
Mining has a level of inherent risk however with the right attitude and hazard recognition, we can put mitigations into place to eliminate or reduce the hazard to a manageable level in order to achieve safe production. Our endless goal is to be a world class organization leading the industry in health and safety and have everyone return home safely to their families. Through the commitment of all who work for North American Palladium we will achieve zero harm and safe production.

We understand that our business success depends on the local communities in the area. We strive to be a good neighbour and employer, to create economic prosperity for its stakeholders and where possible we hire locally and give preference to local and regional suppliers when purchasing goods and services. Wherever our operations interact with indigenous peoples North American Palladium believes it is a critical part of our business to be responsible to those indigenous peoples whose traditional territories we operate on. We strive to build trust and respect of these communities through open, transparent and frequent communications and consultation on impacts resulting from our mining and exploration activities. We also respect and endeavour to understand the traditional values, customs and culture of the indigenous peoples we interact with. North American Palladium supports the development of long term collaborative agreements aimed at creating employment, training and development opportunities, business opportunities and sustainable socio-economic benefits for indigenous communities.
